Bollywood’s dream girl Hema Malini has turned 75 today. The actress has worked in films like Johnny Mera Naam, Dharmatma, Satte Par Satta, Jugnu, Trishul, Dream Girl, Sholay, Kranti, Meera, Sita Aur Geeta, The Burning Train.
He started his acting career in 1963 with the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam. Hema is known for her performances as Basanti, Sita Aur Geeta and Dream Girl. But do you know that there was a time when the actress was fired from a Tamil film.
Hema Malini had told in an interview that, when she was 15 years old, her name was considered for a Tamil film, but director Sridhar rejected her.
Hema Malini had told that, “The director shot with me for 15 days and then replaced me without informing me. When this happened to me, I was barely 13-14 years old.
Hema Malini had further said, director Sridhar also changed my name and named me Sujata. Later I realized that I was not fit for this role. I was not a trained actress at that time and I agreed to work in this film on the insistence of my mother.
After which Hema Malini was offered a dream role with Raj Kapoor in the 1968 film Sapno Ka Saudagar. Although the film flopped at the box office.
Hema Malini was then signed with Dev Anand and Dharmendra for Johnny Mera Naam and Tum Haseen Main Jawaan. Both the movies created a stir at the box office.
According to her autobiography ‘Hema Malini: The Authorized Biography’, she revealed that two yesteryear superstars Jeetendra and Sanjeev Kapoor had proposed her for marriage.
Hema Malini and Dharmendra acted together in about 40 films. Both of them have worked together in films like Raja Jani, Sita Aur Geeta, Sholay, Dream Girl and Kinara, The Burning Train.
Talking about personal life, Hema Malini has two daughters, whose names are Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
