On the sixth day of Navratri, Maa Katyayani, the fierce form of Maa Durga, is worshipped. A powerful form of Shakti, Katyayani is also known as Mahishasuramardini or the slayer of the demon Mahishasura. It is believed that by worshiping Katyayani, the ‘Manglik Dosha’ of the devotees is removed.
It is said that when Mother Katyayani was tired during the battle with Mahishasura, she had eaten betel leaf with honey, after eating it her fatigue was gone and she had killed Mahishasura, hence those who worship Goddess Katyayani.
