Scrutiny of nomination papers filed for 20 assembly constituencies of the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023 took place on Saturday (October 21). Nominations of a total of 253 candidates were found valid. A total of 294 candidates had filed nominations till October 20, the last day of nomination in the first phase. There are 14 candidates in the assembly constituency Antagarh, 15 in Bhanupratappur, 10 in Kanker, 10 in Keshkal, 10 in Kondagaon, nine in Narayanpur, eight in Bastar, 13 in Jagdalpur and seven in Chitrakot, seven in Dantewada, 10 in Bijapur and nine in Konta. The nominations have been found correct. Similarly, nominations of 11 candidates in Khairagarh, 13 in Dongargarh, 35 in Rajnandgaon, 15 in Dongargaon, 10 in Khujji, 10 in Mohla-Manpur, 21 in Kawardha and 16 in Pandariya are valid. Elections in 20 assembly constituencies in the first phase
In the first phase, apart from all the 12 assembly seats of Bastar division, elections are to be held for eight assembly seats of Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai and Kabirdham districts. The total number of voters in 20 assembly seats of the first phase is 40 lakh 78 thousand 681, of which 19 lakh 93 thousand 937 are men, 20 lakh 84 thousand 675 are women and 69 are voters of the third gender. A total of 5,304 polling stations have been created for these assembly constituencies.
So many nominations were made on the last day
On the last day of nomination, the maximum number of candidates were 33 in Rajnandgaon assembly constituency, 29 in Kawardha, 20 in Pandariya, 15 in Bhanupratappur, 14-14 in Jagdalpur and Dantewada, 12-12 in Dongargarh, Dongargaon and Antagarh, 11-11 in Khairagarh and Kondagaon. 10 nomination papers were filed each in Bijapur and Konta, nine in Chitrakot, eight each in Narayanpur and Khujji, seven each in Kanker and Keshkal, six each in Bastar and Mohla-Manpur. The first phase of voting for Chhattisgarh assembly elections will be held on November 7. Counting of votes will be conducted on December 3.
