Many companies are interested in the construction of floating power plant to be built in Getalsud Dam, tender date extended.

Ranchi: Many big companies of the country are interested in constructing a 100 MW floating power plant to be built in Getalsud Dam of Ranchi. However, no decision has been taken yet on the tender. The date of tender to be held on 10th October has been extended to 31st October. The floating power plant will be constructed by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) at a cost of Rs 800 crore. The tender has also been issued by SECI itself. SECI AGM Shridhar Singh and Deputy Manager Pallav Yadu said that companies like Tata Power Solar, L&T, Gensol, Amra Raja, BHEL are interested in floating solar power plant and are going to participate in the tender.

MoU was signed in the year 2018:

It is noteworthy that Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation had decided to set up a 100 MW floating solar power plant at a cost of Rs 800 crore with the help of the World Bank in Getalsud Dam located in Sikidri, Ranchi. Its process progressed only in the year 2018. For this, an agreement was also signed between Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). That means SECI itself has to build the plant. The state water resources department has also given NOC for this. However, officials of the distribution corporation say that the tender has been issued with considerable delay. Due to many technical reasons the date of tender has to be extended. SECI officials said that this time it will be finalized on October 31 and construction will start soon.

Hatia and Namkum grid will get electricity from this plant

The electricity generated from this floating solar power plant will be supplied to Hatia and Namkum grid. The installation of this plant will not have any impact on the water level of Getalsud Dam, because it is a floating plant.
