The latest case is from Moreh city, where the sound of gunfire echoed on Tuesday morning. Here suspected Kuki armed anti-social elements opened fire on the police personnel. A police officer was shot in this attack, he was admitted to the hospital in critical condition but he died during treatment.

Firing took place during inspection of helipad
Meanwhile, regarding the incident, a top police officer has said that Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anand was shot. The firing was done by some miscreants from the Kuki community. At the time of the firing, the SDPO was inspecting a newly constructed helipad in the eastern plains of the border town. During this time the miscreants opened fire. The police officer said that after the incident, the SDPO was taken to a primary health center in Moreh where he died. The police say that an operation has been started in the area to catch the militants.

There is a demand to remove security personnel
Let us tell you, this incident has happened a few weeks after many civil society organizations, especially the Moreh-based organizations, demanded the removal of security personnel from the border town. Manipur Police has arrested more than 10 people from Myanmar in the last few days for stealing furniture and other household items from houses abandoned by the Meitei community and illegally entering Indian territory.

In this context, state CM N Biren Singh, while reacting to the arrest of three people from Myanmar on October 21 on charges of stealing furniture and electrical items from houses that were burnt during the outbreak of violence in the state in May, had said. This happened when some special organizations are protesting against the deployment of state police and commandos in Moreh city.
