Chhath Puja is the only festival which has been given the status of a great festival in Hindu religion. According to beliefs, by observing this festival properly all the wishes are fulfilled. In this festival mainly the setting and rising sun is worshipped. People start preparations related to this from now. This year in 2023, Chhath Mahaparva will be celebrated on this day.
Chhath Puja is considered a great festival of folk faith of all Hindus. This festival is celebrated every year on the Shashthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, which falls between the months of October and November. This year, the great festival of Chhath will start from Nahay-Khay on 17 November 2023 (Friday) and end with offering Arghya to the rising Sun on 20 November 2023 (Monday). Talking about the correct time of Chhath Puja this year, the auspicious time to offer Arghya to the setting sun will be 5:26 pm and the right time to offer Arghya to the rising sun will be 6:47 am.
According to Hindu beliefs, this festival of Chhath Puja is a great festival of folk faith. During this puja mainly Lord Surya and Chhathi Maa are worshipped. During this fast, the devotees meditate on the Sun at the time of sunrise and sunset and offer Arghya to it. This is a very difficult festival due to fasting for 36 hours. During Chhath Puja, women go to the banks of a river or lake near their house and worship Lord Sun and offer Arghya to him at an auspicious time. Thekua, which is specially prepared in this festival, is considered as Mahaprasad.
