Chief Correspondent, Dhanbad: Holding tax of Rs 4.29 crore is outstanding from the Municipal Corporation on government departments. The corporation has given notice to all the departments and directed them to pay it. According to the Municipal Corporation official, 61 central and state departments operate in Dhanbad. Of these, withholding tax comes from about 50 departments. Holding tax is outstanding on the remaining departments for years. Under the Municipal Act 2011, private and government departments have to pay holding tax. The expenses of the corporation are being borne from the internal sources of the Municipal Corporation. Every month about Rs 4 crore is spent on cleaning, wages of workers and other items. Notice has been given to all departments. After this, action will be taken as per the Act.
2.20 lakh houses and institutions in urban area, tax comes from only 45 thousand houses
In the current financial year 2023-24, the Municipal Corporation has set a target of revenue collection of approximately Rs 40 crore. After the end of the month of October, till now only Rs 19 crore revenue has been collected. corporate area There are 2.20 lakh houses and institutions in it. Of this, only Rs 45 thousand is taxed from house holds and institutions only.
